Aluminum is only one third of the weight of steel, which makes it much easier to handle in production and shipping. Assembly is much faster, too, and opposed to electroplated steel, it is possible to repair, weld or drill holes on site.

Aluminum is easy to machine and shape and as such the costs of tools to make customized profiles are low. In addition to this, the time of production of aluminum is shorter than that of steel. Aluminum has high tensile strength and a ”built in” protection against corrosion and does not need any protective surface treatment – even when used in offshore environment.

From an environmental perspective, aluminum is much preferred as it is 100% recyclable and for that same reason the value of aluminum waste is high.
